Whether it is a movable cutter or a fixed cutter, the material of the edge of the milling blade is very important.

There are two types of milling blades used for perfect binding on the market: one is ordinary blades with high-carbon steel at the knife edge; the other is alloy blades with cemented carbide at the knife edge. The carbon content of high carbon steel is 0.6% to 1.2%, and the cemented carbide is an alloy material made of the hard compound of refractory metal and metal through powder metallurgy process, which has high hardness, wear resistance, strength and A series of excellent properties such as good toughness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance.

2. Adjust the gap between the movable knife and the fixed knife

Generally newer perfect binding machines, the best gap between the movable knife and the fixed knife is 0.05mm. For the milling cutter, in addition to the good milling state and low milling resistance, the blade wear is also small, and the milling When the back is polished, the book back has a high flatness, which is conducive to the penetration of the adhesive and can improve the quality of the book binding.

3. There must be a certain depth when milling back and grinding

If the milling and polishing depth is not enough, the innermost page will not be punched, which will affect the penetration of the adhesive, and the peeling and gluing will become inevitable. Generally speaking, the milling and polishing of tri-folding books should be 1~1.5mm. For books with too many folding pages or overprints, the milling and polishing depth must be increased to 2~3mm, otherwise it will be difficult to punch through. 

Of course, the milling and polishing depth is not as large as possible. It should be operated according to the thickness of the signature. If it is too large, the format size will become smaller. At this time, if it is still cut according to the standard size, the page shrinkage will inevitably occur.
